While our monthly update service has not changed the team here at Web Works wanted to provide some useful information to help you learn about how it works, what’s included, lead time, turn-around time as well as helpful links to support posts with more tips and tricks.
How Hosting Works
While Web Works monthly hosting fees mainly cover the cost of managing site files and/or associated products hosted on our private and secure servers we wanted to be able to provide our clients with the ability to keep their websites content current. This is why we have been proud to offer our complimentary 1 hour basic update & support service included with most* hosting packages we offer for the last several years.
If your hosting package with Web Works includes our monthly maintenance support and in order to help our development team process and complete your update requests more efficiently we have provided a simple and easy to use form where all update requests and content will need to be submitted. What are basic updates?
Basic updates are simple changes made to existing content and areas on your current website template hosted by Web Works. It also includes technical support time you may need us to assist you with. Basic updates normally fall under one of these categories:
- simple image swap
- small copy change
- changing a quick link
- login support
- password change
- email help
- checking spam
Please remember only 1 hour of basic updates are available each month for most** hosting accounts with Web Works and monthly update hours do not rollover***.
What are extensive updates?
Extensive updates are normally changes that require additional development time, adding additional services or products to your current hosting package, extensive technical support, or if you have exhausted your monthly update hour for the month. Extensive updates usually include, but are not limited to the following:
- form updates, testing, debugging or changes
- adding content to your website that’s not currently on your template
- payment integration such as PayPal buttons
- extensive copy changes
- template changes
- adding additional website pages
- adding additional emails
- adding a blog
- adding analytics
- SEO consulting
- rush or urgent last minute requests
- site redesign
If you would like to request additional services or products, require extensive updates or if you’ve already used up your complimentary monthly update hour Web Works will be happy to quote you based on our hourly rate. We may also be able to refer you to our shop LOCATED HERE where some additional products can be purchased directly. Please note that if you are adding additional services or products monthly hosting fees may increase.
Lead Time †
Do you have a special event or marketing campaign you need to post on your website? Don’t wait until last minute to submit your update request to us. Web Works requires at least one-month lead time to complete important updates or extensive update requests – if not longer. Make sure you leave enough time to update your site and market your events properly.
Basic monthly updates are normally completed within 5 business days* or less. Major Design revisions will take longer to complete and may require additional charges. We will contact you via email when your updates are completed. If you’ve submitted or requested extensive updates or if you’ve already used up your complimentary monthly update hour all additional updates submitted will need to be quoted based on our hourly rate. If necessary we will contact you via email to either confirm details or setup a consultation to discuss your needs so we can prepare a personalized quote once your request has been submitted. A signature is required along with payment for development time prior to extensive updates being started. We will never charge your account prior to an agreement being signed.
How can I receive monthly maintenance support?
If your hosting package with Web Works includes our complimentary monthly maintenance support you will receive 1 hour of basic updates & support each month. A minimum monthly hosting package starting at $39.95 is required to receive monthly updates. If your package with Web Works does not currently include basic monthly update support we would be happy to discuss upgrading your account.

† Please make sure you provide Web Works with at least one-month lead time to complete important updates or extensive update requests. Rush requests and urgent requests will incur additional fees and/or charges and may not be possible depending on time constraints due to our existing projects.
* Please make sure you provide Web Works with at least one-month lead time to complete important updates or extensive update requests. Rush requests and urgent requests will be charged based on our hourly development rate of $135 an hour. Rush requests must be approved and may or may not be possible for our development team to make depending on our current project queue. All requests submitted are subject to approval by Web Works and processed during regular business hours Monday through Friday 9am-5pm (not include weekends or holidays.)
** Not all packages booked with Web Works include our complimentary 1 hour per month website maintenance. Please contact our team to upgrade your package if you would like to receive this service. A minimum of $39.95 per month is required to receive our monthly update service.
*** Monthly Update hours do not rollover and can not be applied with any other service, product, and/or request. If you do not use your hour it will not be available in the future and if you want a new product it is a separate fee.
† Client is responsible for test, checking and performing a thorough quality assurance test on all updates completed by Web Works once our team has notified client of changes being made. Client has three (3) days to notify Web Works of any issues or errors. If notified within 3 days no additional time or fees will be applied. If client delays and notifies Web Works after 3 days all additional development time need to make changes will be deducted from allotted monthly time and/or additional fees may be required if client has exceeded monthly complimentary 1 hour time.
